Also, a reminder about the coach’s clinic tomorrow at Alexander Park (rain or shine)

The City of Hamilton has extended the field and diamond closures until Saturday.  What this means for us is we will be unable to start our program until Monday, May 15.  We will be using the original schedule for this week, perhaps with a couple of tweaks, which I will send out by weeks end.

Also, just a reminder of the coaches clinic this weekend at Alexander Park on Saturday, May 13 from 9:30am-11:00pm.

Hello Alexander Park Families,

Alexander Park will be hosting a FREE coaches clinic this Saturday, May 13 beginning at 9:30 am designed for house league baseball.  I would like to encourage all of our coaches to attend or any other parent who may be interested in helping out.   You will leave this session with a wealth of simple drills designed for players of varying abilities.  Let’s make sure Alexander Park is well represented at this clinic, it is well worth the hour and a half invested.

Please see below a short bio about John and an agenda for Saturday’s program.

John Hashimoto has graciously agreed to run a free house league coaches clinic for us this Saturday May 13th 9:30am-11am at Alexander Park.

For anyone that doesn’t know John, he has been involved with the Cardinals Rep program for many years and spends his summers travelling across Canada with several of the Blue Jays Alumni hosting the Blue Jays summer camps and has a wealth of coaching knowledge to share!

 Theme will be Practice Planning/Organization

Time:  9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

-plan is to run the coaches through a  light demonstration workout

-demonstration of typical practice for house league level players

-drills-oriented

-ideally, it would be great for coaches to bring gloves and comfortable clothing for outdoors

-time length: 1.5 hours

Back-up plan:   Alexander Clubhouse Indoors (same topic)

ALL FIELDS CLOSED

Greetings all,
Due to the volume of rain we have received this week, the city has closed all parks until Thursday, May 11 at which time fields will be re evaluated.
Based on the forecast we are going to assume we will be given the go ahead, therefore we will move forward with Thursday’s original schedule.
Rookie ball players will meet at the clubhouse at 5:45pm for instructions on what field to report to.  Midget players will meet at diamond #4 at 5:45pm for your first practice.
All other divisions will be rescheduled over the next couple of days and posted on our web page an Facebook page.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank You

Yogi Says....

Berra’s contributions to MLB history are incalculable, but his legacy might be even better remembered for what he contributed to American language. A sportswriters’ favorite, Berra had countless expressions and turns of phrase that were memorable because most of them didn’t make any sense. (At the same time, every one had some truth to it.)

Berra-isms (colloquial expressions that lack logic) are now countless, and many of them are just attributed to Berra, even if he never actually said them. As he so perfectly put it: “I never said most of the things I said.” Here are 10 of our favorites.

1. When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

2. You can observe a lot by just watching.

3. It ain’t over till it’s over.

4. It’s like déjà vu all over again.

5. No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.

6. Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.

7. A nickel ain’t worth a dime anymore.

8. Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours.

9. We made too many wrong mistakes.

10. Congratulations. I knew the record would stand until it was broken.
